For the period 1716 to 1783, we have the Family Record Page from what we refer to as the Thomas Margeson Bible. This Bible was published by Royal Command in 1715. Our copy probably was brought to New York by John and Catthren. The first entry was dated in 1716. A xeroxed copy facsimile is included herewith. Here is a printed copy: New York, May the 8th Day 1716 John Margeson Son of John and Catthren Margeson was Born in New York and Crisened by Parsin Vesey in Trinity Church in the Year 1716. New York, January the 6 Day 1761 Thomas Margeson Son of John and Elizabeth Margeson was Born Tuesday at two o'Clock. Frederic Burg Precent October the 9, 1763 Mary Brundage Daughter of Caleb and Susana Brundage was born on Sunday morning at Six o'Clock. This establishes the fact the family was affiliated with Trinity Church of the State of the Church of England. In a letter from Helen Rose Cline, Parish Recorder of Trinity Church is copied as followed: Parish of Trinity Church in the City of New York February 24, 1960 Office of the Clerk of the Vestry 74 Trinity Place New York, N. Y. 6 Mr. Alva E. Margeson, Box 309 Wyoming, New York Dear Mr. Margeson: We have your recent letter inquiring as to Trinity Church records for the Margeson family. Let me explain first of all that many of our early records were burned in the great fire of 1776. Our existing Baptismal records start in 1749, Marriage records in 1746, and the Burial records in 1777. We have found the following Margeson records which may be of interest to you: Baptism April 21, 1782 - Mary Margeson - Parents Gideon and Mary Margeson Marriages August 6, 1768 - Edmund Ming and Catherine Margeson by the Rev. Samuel Auchmuty (# See note) August 20, 1778 - Robert Weily and Catherine Margeson by the Rev. Charles Inglis Burials August 12, 1778 - Child of Mr. Margeson, 2 years, Trinity Church Oct. 9, 1778 - Mr. Margeson, 49 years, Trinity Church With kind regards I am, Yours very truly, Helen Rose Cline Parish Recorder This Catherine was a beneficiary of the estate of Richard Sackett, in a will filed at Albany in an early year. Richard Sackett owned a cherry orchard in lower Manhattan, the present site of Cherry Street. The Sacketts took up land on the eastern end of Lake Ontario, and so we find Sackett Harber on our N. Y. State maps.
