About the archive
A note on how this collection is built, researched and maintained.
What this archive is
Holden's Archive is a working digital archive of family records: people, families, images, documents, places, events and written research. Every item is a catalogued record with its own archive identifier, and records are linked to one another rather than kept as isolated pages.
How records are researched
Each person and record carries a research status so readers can tell verified findings from work in progress. Claims are tied to sources and citations wherever a source exists, and reports set out the reasoning behind conclusions.
Places and geography
Locations come from one shared place catalogue, so a town entered once is reused everywhere it appears. Historical names, alternate spellings and coordinates are recorded on the place itself, and located places appear on the archive map.
Corrections and contributions
Family images, letters, certificates and corrections are always welcome. If you hold materials connected to a person in this archive, or you spot an error, please get in touch so the record can be updated and credited.
