Accounts differ as to who blinded Llywarch; the Brut entry for 987 does not say. Dr. David Powell in his History of Wales asserts Godfrey Haroldson captured and blinded him. Darrell Wolcott suggests Llywarch's brother Maredudd may have been responsible.
