An original probate bond from colonial Massachusetts, dated February 22, 1769, appointing an executor or administrator for the estate of Mary Leiphner of Lincoln County. This formal obligation was signed and sealed before Charles Cushing, Judge of the Probate of Wills, and witnessed by multiple officials including John Tilmer and others.

The bond is printed with blanks filled in by hand in period script, and bears the signatures and names of the witnesses and officials. It outlines the executor's duties to make a true inventory of the deceased's goods, chattels, and credits, to render accounts, and to administer the estate according to law. The document shows the formality and legal precision of 18th-century Massachusetts probate procedures.

The paper shows age-appropriate toning, creasing, and light soiling from over 255 years of storage. The handwriting and printed text remain legible. An excellent piece for collectors of American legal history, genealogy, Massachusetts colonial documents, or early New England probate records, and it would display well framed.
