This original 17th-century administrative manuscript is dated June 10, 1690, and was issued by the manorial court of Schloss Ammerland (Ammerland Castle) - (Hofmark Gericht Ammerland) on Lake Starnberg, Bavaria. Executed in early modern Fraktur typography with detailed handwritten Kurrent script, this official tax voucher records a local tenant payment of 30 kreuzers toward the electoral estate tax (Hof-Steuer), levied under the authority of Elector Maximilian II Emanuel. The document explicitly stipulates that the remitted amount was to be credited against regular dues owed to the manorial lord. The reverse bears an original archival inventory reference.

This piece originates from a key period in the history of Schloss Ammerland, when the estate formed part of the private holdings of Prince Joseph Clemens of Bavaria (1671–1723). A central figure of the ruling House of Wittelsbach, Joseph Clemens held vast ecclesiastical and temporal power as Prince-Archbishop and Elector of Cologne, alongside his appointments as Prince-Bishop of Regensburg, Freising, Liège, and Hildesheim. He was the younger brother of Maximilian II Emanuel ("Max Emanuel"), Elector of Bavaria and Governor of the Spanish Netherlands. Together, the Wittelsbach brothers played pivotal roles in European geopolitics and the War of the Spanish Succession. This document provides a direct, tangible link to the daily financial administration of the Ammerland castle estate during the height of the Baroque era.
